Another clean audit report for PJC

Once again Paris Junior College has received a clean audit report, according to McClanahan Holmes’ Andy Reich in his presentation to the Board of Regents on Nov. 23. He explained that there are several audits conducted - one according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, one to Governmental Accounting Standards Board, as well as a single federal audit and a single state audit of federal and state programs. “Basically it’s all good,” said Reich as he presented the audit. “You have a clean opinion with no findings.” In other business the Regents:- Received a financial report from Comptroller Keitha Carlton reflecting that revenues and expenditures are in line with budget.
- Approved the 2016-2017 academic calendar, as presented by Academic Studies Vice President Ed McCraw.
- Accepted a dual credit memorandum of understanding used with area high schools. State regulation requires annual approval by college governing boards.
- Received a report from regents Ginna Bowman and Berdie Gibson on their attendance at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Leadership Institute. They related important principles of board governance and the new 60x30 Texas plan of having 60 percent of 25- to 34-year-olds obtaining a credential or degree by 2030.
- Received a report on Continuing Technical Education dual credit from Workforce Education Vice President John Spradling, showing which service area high schools have workforce dual credit programs. This is in addition to academic dual credit.
- Set a board workshop to discuss expansion of the taxing district for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
- Approved the sale of a building in Greenville owned by Phoenix Charter School, pending completion of the contract.
- Accepted the employment of Lydia Carrascosa as Upward Bound Academic Coordinator, the reassignments of Kelli Hamill as Retired Senior Volunteer Program Coordinator and Ashley Sanders as Director of the Educational Opportunity Center, and the retirement of Vice President of Academic Studies Ed McCraw, effective May 13, 2016.
