Dorm Policies

  • Room assignments/changes: Assignments are made each semester; changes require permission from the Director of Student Life before any move.
  • Quiet hours: 10:30 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.; keep noise low so others can study and sleep.
  • Cooking: Not permitted in individual rooms due to fire regulations.
  • Pets: Not allowed in the residence halls.
  • Bicycles: Must be kept in your room or in a campus bike rack — not in hallways.
  • Room inspection: Resident Supervisors inspect rooms at least monthly for sanitation, care of college property, and safety; trash goes in wastebaskets, not hallways/restrooms/showers.
  • Hall meetings: Residence Life meetings are mandatory; a $25 fine is assessed for non-attendance.
  • Damage/loss: Residents are responsible for their room and furnishings; hallway/bathroom damage is shared. Charges must be paid promptly and a hold is placed on the educational record until paid. Misplaced keys cost $5.00 each; front-door key cards cost $25.
  • Search & seizure / right of entry: With reasonable cause to believe policy or law is violated, the college may search a room; the college also reserves the right to enter for safety, suspected property damage, policy/law violations, repairs, and maintenance/safety inspections.
  • Parking: All vehicles need a permit from Campus Police; parking is 24/7 but some areas are restricted (handicapped/visitor); citations issued for violations; no loitering in parking areas.
  • Screens: Window screens must stay on; a removed/damaged screen is a $50.00 charge.
  • Fire escapes: Fire-escape doors are for emergencies only and are alarmed; tampering with the fire alarm carries a $200 fine and/or expulsion; vacate immediately when the alarm sounds.
