2012 DSA nominees have been announced

Nominees for the Distinguished Service Award have been selected at Paris Junior College. The winner will be announced during commencement ceremonies at Noyes Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11. The four outstanding sophomore nominees include Stephanie Goudy of Burleson, Jacob Allen of Greenville, Morgan Kilgore of Webster, and Christina Gunlock of Bonham. Goudy is a two-year theater and music major. She has been named to the Dean's List and nominated for Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. She is active in Student Government Association and serves as an officer in Delta Psi Omega theater organization. In addition, Goudy worked as a counselor in the Upward Bound summer program; serves as a Dorm Resident Assistant; and was nominated for Miss PJC. She plans to transfer to a four-year university and pursue an education degree. Allen serves as president of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was nominated to Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. With a 4.0 grade point average, he was named to the President's List. He was a nominee for Mr. PJC. Allen plans to transfer to Texas A&M University — Commerce and then on to medical school to become a doctor. Kilgore is a two-year member of the Lady Dragons basketball team and is the 2012 Miss PJC. She was named 1st Team All-District in high school. She plans to transfer to a four-year university and pursue a degree in computer programming. Gunlock is a journalism major at PJC and was named Journalism Student of the Year for the past two years. She serves as editor of "The Bat," the PJC student newspaper. She won honorable mention this year from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association; was nominated for Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges; and nominated for Miss PJC. With a 4.0 grade point average every semester, Gunlock plans to attend University of North Texas and pursue a photojournalism degree.
