The African-American Student Union at Paris Junior College recently elected new officers for the 2012-2013 year. Voted in were President Lasuelo Jackson of Clarksville, Vice President Cindy Blanton of Henderson, Treasurer Rico Lewis of Paris, Secretary Ashley Reed of Clarksville and Activities Coordinator Heather Rowe of Garland. In addition to plans for the upcoming Homecoming Parade, other club activities were discussed. "We worked at the Texas-OU game, and it was fun and exciting, but hard work at the same time," Jackson said. "We do this every year to raise money to attend the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference held in January at Texas A&M University in College Station." Jackson went on to explain that club members ring bells and help with Angel Trees for the Salvation Army, help at the Downtown Food Pantry in Paris and work the concession booth at the Hunt Center during PJC's volleyball and basketball games.
