Architectural finalists chosen by regents

The Paris Junior College Board of Regents Monday night approved the selection of five finalists in the bidding for a college architect. The Board of Regents will interview representatives of the five architectural firms on July 7 in the PJC Founder's Room. Interviews will begin at 6 p.m. Named as the finalists were Corgan Associates of Dallas, Denney Architects of Paris, Freese and Nichols of Fort Worth, SHW Group Inc. of Dallas and Thacker David Architects of Longview. The architectural firm that is finally engaged by the board will begin drawing proposals for future growth in Paris, including new residence halls, and new classroom facilities in Sulphur Springs and Greenville. Regents accepted the employment recommendation of Mallie Hood as instructor of math effective Aug. 17. Hood received her master's degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She taught in the North Lamar and Commerce school districts and has been an adjunct instructor at PJC since 1999. The board also accepted the resignation of Student Activities Coordinator Wendy Pitcock, who has been offered an opportunity to teach English in Japan next near. In other business, the Board of Regents agreed to retain McClanahan and Holmes as the college's audit firm, and extended for two years the contract with Lamar National Bank as the college's bank depository.
