Baseball Dragons named to All-Conference team

The National Junior College Athletic Association 2012 Region XIV East All Conference Baseball Team has been named, and several Paris Junior College Dragons have been honored.
PJC players earning recognition include: freshman Tripp Cecil of Plano, Texas, First Team All Conference; sophomore Michael Medina of Sugar Land, Texas, Second Team All Conference; freshman G.R. Hinsley of Sugar Land, First Base All Conference; sophomore Garrett Killgore of Frisco, Texas, Third Base All Conference; and freshman Travis Lee of Magnolia, Texas, Outfielder All Conference.
"I am proud of all of these young men and the effort they put on the field this spring as well as in the classroom. They all did well academically," said PJC Baseball Coach Deron Clark. "This collective group of performances will provide us the stability and consistency necessary for us to succeed at the regional tournament."
The statistics are impressive, as well. Hinsley had a batting average of .353 with 19 RBI; he had 54 hits out of 153 at bats. Killgore had a .283 with 33 RBI and 45 hits out of 159 at bats. Lee hit .294 with 12 RBI and 32 hits with 109 at bats. Medina pitched 58 innings in 12 games with four wins and five losses, 37 strikeouts, 2.76 ERA and 1.6 WHIP (Walks plus Hits divided by Innings Pitched). Cecil pitched 40 innings in 20 games with five wins and one loss, 39 strikeouts, 2.23 ERA and 1.07 WHIP; he also had six saves.
The Dragons entered the Region XIV Baseball Tournament as fourth seed.
