Bulls named Director of Institutional Advancement

Extensive marketing and community relations skills are being brought to the position of Director of Institutional Advancement/Alumni Association for Paris Junior College with the hiring today of Paris native Derald Bulls. "Derald Bulls is a welcome addition to the college as Director of Institutional Advancement," says PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin. "He brings a knowledge of the community and its residents that will benefit the college immensely as we work toward achieving our goals, strengthening and securing the future of PJC." "Paris Junior College is a tremendous asset for our community and surrounding area," Bulls said. "I welcome the opportunity to work beside the trustees, Dr. Anglin, administration and faculty of PJC to continue to build on the proud past and work toward an even brighter future for each student." Prior to starting with PJC, Mr. Bulls was Physician Recruitment Director for Paris Regional Medical Center. Before that he served as PRMC's Director of Marketing/Public Relations, and held similar positions with CHRISTUS St. Joseph's Health System and McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Bulls began his career in radio, working as sales manager, sports announcer and air personality at radio stations in Paris, Hamilton and Commerce. He obtained a double major in Radio-Television Communications and Sociology from East Texas State University and did post graduate work at Texas A&M University, Commerce. He has many awards and honors, including Outstanding Alumnus-East Texas State University, 1987; "Hero for Children" award from the Texas Education Agency, 1995; Mary Walker Clark Leadership Alumni Award/Leadership Lamar County, 1996; and U.S. Jaycees Senatorship Award in 1993. Bulls is extremely active in Paris, volunteering or serving as a board member with many civic and community boards such as North Lamar Education Foundation, Paris Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Lamar County, PJC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors, Greater Paris Rotary Club; Leadership Lamar County; Love Civic Center Board of Directors, and Lamar County Child Welfare. His wife of 29 years, Lesa Bulls, is an educator with North Lamar Independent School District. Son D.J. Bulls attends University of Texas at Arlington to attain his master's in Music Theory and Choral Conducting while ministering at North Davis Church of Christ in Arlington. Daughter Haley Bulls is a junior majoring in Speech and Language Pathology at Abilene Christian University.
