Chamber Singers concert set Tuesday, April 6

The vocal music department at Paris Junior College will present the Chamber Singers in their spring concert, "Words To Live By In Song," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 322 Lamar Ave. The public is invited to attend, and there is no charge. The songs were specifically chosen because of their texts with words of wisdom to uplift the human spirit. Selections will include: [i]I Can Make A Difference[/i], [i]A Time For Praying[/i], [i]Never Gonna Walk This Journey Alone[/i], and [i]There Is A Season[/i]. A first for the group will be a musical number in Swahili called [i]Wakati Wa Amani[/i], which means a time of peace. Voice students Glenn Pruitt, Gloria Cooper, Satti Nuachaya and Josh Mooneyham will sing solos of hope including [i]Why We Sing[/i], [i]The Holy City[/i] and [i]Psalms of Praise[/i]. This has been an outstanding year for the PJC choir program because ten members of the Chamber Singers were named to the Texas Two-Year All State Choir. Glenn Pruitt, one of the All State Choir members will direct the group singing one of the numbers that was learned at the All State concert, a moving spiritual entitled [i]A City Called Heaven[/i]. Pruitt has recently been accepted into the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. Members of the PJC Chamber Singers and their hometowns include Donna Bauder, Lynsey Boss, Adam Cawthon, Gloria Cooper, Alex Fowzer, Jenilyn Fowzer, Justin Frazier, Brittany Joseph, Trenton Little, Kaitlyn McCormack, Evan Moree, Sattriona Nyachwaya, Glenn Pruitt, Kristine Smock and Jordon Thielman, all of Paris; Vallery Schmidt of Bogata; Courtney Ballard and Justin Hughes of Powderly; Taylor Jackson of Reno; Heather McCurley of Emory; Alicia Edwards of Greenville; and Clarissa Christensen of El Campo.
