Director Accounting and Reporting

Responsibilities: This position will provide leadership and oversight of financial reporting, accounting principles, College policies and federal and state regulations for the accounting and grant accounting teams. Work with multiple departments (Business Office, Financial Aid, Advancement, Grants Management) to ensure compliance with accounting principles and governmental standards; implement changes to ensure continued compliance.
Qualifications: Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting; Certified Public Accountant license preferred. Five years’ work experience in the area of accounting and internal control. Supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of college and university accounting and creation of financial reports. Knowledge of Texas Statutory Requirements. Working knowledge of computer-based financial systems. Preferably experience with Jenzabar. Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately. Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to identify needs, develop solutions, and present results (i.e. senior leadership). Student-focused and a commitment to superior customer service. Professional, positive, and energetic leader able to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with various departments. Able to set priorities and meet needs of the organization and achieve needed results. Demonstrate abilities of accuracy, initiative, and organization. Excellent problem-solving skills in high pressure situations. Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Show independent judgment, personal responsibility, and anticipatory thinking skills. Willingness to take initiative, prioritize, and perform proactively.
Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000.
Fringe Benefits: This position covers health insurance at 100% for employee. Additional optional coverages include dental, vision, AD&D, life insurance, and long- and short-term disability. Other benefits include retirement under the Teacher Retirement System of Texas or Optional Retirement Program, accrued sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, and an employee reimbursement/dependent scholarship program. Health benefits require a 60-day employment period.
