Student Accomodations
Published or Revised October 22, 2024
Paris Junior College provides a friendly environment that is supportive of a healthy learning experience. All students of Paris Junior College are invited to pursue their careers with the greatest potential for success. By offering academic accommodations and services that enhance accessibility, students with disabilities can find a place where they are welcomed to learn and grow.
A wide variety of resources and programs are made available to students with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities for students. Passage Section 504, The Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 require that colleges make certain special arrangements for students with disabilities. This requisite does not infer that less should be required of the student with a disability than other students, but only that reasonable accommodations should be made to ensure that students with a disability have access to an education. Paris Junior College is committed to making reasonable accommodations for students with a documented physical, psychological, or learning disability, who have been admitted to the college and have requested accommodations. Adaptive technology counseling and equipment is available on campus for students who are deaf and blind. Advisors also have interpreter resources available as needed.
Steps to Applying for Accomodations
- Complete the Accommodation Request Form in MyPJC on the Student tab under Reports and Forms.
- Attach diagnostic documentation (504 or IEP) reports, signed by a professional authorized to diagnose and/or treat your disability. The report must be on letterhead and recent enough to include your current status. If you are a student who is deaf or blind, you should present a Tuition Exemption letter.
- Once approved, you will receive an email for your records. An email will also be sent out to each instructor letting them know which accommodations you qualify for.
- Accommodations must be requested at the beginning of every semester. Accommodations are not retroactive.
If you have questions, please contact Ansley Hoskins at ahoskins@parisjc.edu or 903-782-0281.
