Dye’s kinetic sculpture on display at Foyer Gallery

Published or Revised September 15, 2011

"The Mechanics of Childhood (a Snippet of 52 Haswell Circle)" is open at the Paris Junior College Foyer Gallery from now until Sept. 23. Artist Patricia Taillefer Dye is a conceptual sculptor/ceramist who lives and works in Paris, Texas. Currently she is involved in an upcoming group show in Dallas, Texas, at the Life Gallery in conjunction with the Muscle Memory Dance Theatre. By repurposing familiar objects and imagery, Patricia's work is designed for viewers to access and examine what might otherwise be dismissed. Much of her work is interactive, motorized or installation based. The Texas A&M University — Commerce science building houses one of her permanent installations. She received her master of fine arts with an emphasis in aculpture and a bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in ceramics from Texas A&M University — Commerce. She has exhibited her work at several venues, including the Las Cruces Museum of Art in New Mexico and 500X in Dallas. In 2010 Patricia was awarded the prestigious honor of attending Vermont Studio Center, an honor given to only 17 sculptors worldwide. In the Spring 2012 semester, sculpture and ceramics classes taught by Dye will be offered at PJC. For more information about the exhibit, call 903-782-0329.
