Longtime PJC employees receive service pins

Paris Junior College awarded service pins to a group of employees and held a retirement reception during events Monday marking the beginning of the new school year.

Dwight Chaney, vice president of academic studies, was recognized for 45 years of service.

Receiving 40-year pins were Don Kosterman, chemistry instructor; Betty Mills, government instructor; Beth Shelton, associate dean of communications and fine arts and English instructor; and Jennie Vaughan, music instructor.

Presented with 20-year pins were: Linda Slawson, financial aid director; Sheila Reece, admissions director; Roger Powell, electrician; and Shirley Bridges, library services.

Those receiving 15-year pins include: Robert Spain, TRIO computer information services; Linda Miles, counselor; Rudy Rodriguez, maintenance; Jackie Mitchell, Educational Opportunity Center advisor; Billie Hippensteel, Continuing Education clerk; Deron Clark, head baseball coach; Carl Covert, director of library services; and Matt White, history instructor.

Those receiving 10-year pins were: Karen Ballard, Educational Opportunity Center advisor; Julie Sugg, executive secretary, Academic Studies; Chastity Woodson and John Fornof, mathematics instructors; Judith Smith and Linda Utley, vocational nursing instructors; Jeanne Parks, Library Services clerk; Joe Jackson, librarian; Susan Moore, art instructor; DeDe Oxley, English instructor; Del Oyler, biology instructor; and Allen Williams, history instructor.

Three retirees were honored with a reception. Rick Thomas, project manager, was recognized for 38 years of service. Jerry Hammack, director institutional research, and Pat Bell, director of the Small Business Development Center, each were honored for 20 years of service.
