Encore’s spring show set for this weekend

The 20th annual Encore! show featuring Paris Junior College's award-winning show choir will be staged this weekend, according to Mike Brock, vocal music director. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 2. All shows will be in the Ray Karrer Theater on the PJC campus. This year's theme is "Encore Evolution" and features some of the most famous groups and artists covering a wide range of decades. Some of the groups being portrayed through their most famous musical hits include Journey, Three Dog Night, Paramore and Incubus. In addition, songs like "Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered," from Ella Fitzgerald; "Listen" from Beyonce Knowles; "No Air" from American Idol winner Jordin Sparks; and Whiskey Lullaby" from Brad Paisley and Alison Kraus are just a portion of the show. Tickets are $3 per person and persons with a PJC I.D. will be admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the PJC Music Building or Newman Towne and Country Real Estate in downtown Paris. Tickets are also available at the door for the evening shows and there is no reserved seating. Doors open at 7 p.m. Mike Brock is the director. Adam Cawthon is a guitar accompanist, and Kristina House Courson, a member of the 1999 Encore and a PJC alumni, has created the choreography for the show. The public is invited to come and enjoy this fast-paced performance.
