Entries accepted for Creative Writing Contest

Entries are being accepted by PJC's Communications Division for its annual Creative Writing Contest, according to instructor Marsha Dennis. Any student enrolled for at least six credit hours during the fall 2005 - spring 2006 academic year is eligible. Writers may enter all categories, but may submit only one entry per category. There are seven categories: » Short story. » Poetry. » Argumentative/informative essay. » Research essay with documentation. » Regional literature. » Narrative essay. » The William A. Owens Scholarship Award of $1,000. Entries for the William A. Owens Scholarship Award also may be entered separate in other categories. Judges, chosen from outside the PJC Communications Department, reserve the right to limit to insufficient entries or merit. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. April 12 in the Student Center Ballroom. Outstanding entries will be published in the 2006 "Swingers of Birches" publication. The deadline for entries is 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. Further information is posted in the Communications wing of the Administration Building.
