Once again, student numbers at Paris Junior College have set record. This year, total fall semester enrollment is 6,214. One year ago staff and faculty celebrated as it reached 5,584. Total contact hours for the fall semester are 1,360,113, up from 1,204,720 this time last year. The fall numbers represent a 31 percent increase over the last two fall semesters. Dr. Jerry Hammack, director of institutional research, reported enrollment this fall included 859 at the Sulphur Springs campus, 1,630 at the Greenville campus and 4,433 on the Paris campus. Numerous students attend classes on more than one PJC campus. Of the total students enrolled, 1,250 are high school students taking dual credit classes. Students enrolled in dual credit take a college course, but receive high school and college credit simultaneously. "I can't say enough about our staff and faculty in achieving these numbers," said PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin. "We have very fine, hardworking employees at PJC that our community can be proud of. We are stretched thin in handling these record numbers, but faculty and staff are stepping up to meet the needs of our student population. In these challenging economic times we will continue to assist the needs of individuals, businesses and communities in our service area."
