Forensics team takes several state awards

The Paris Junior College forensics team brought home several awards from state competition held last weekend at Tarrant County Community College in Fort Worth. Competing against colleges from throughout Texas, PJC students Phillip Rolen and Jason Thomas qualified to continue competition at the national level this spring, according to coaches Ann Gerrity and Alex Peevy. Rolen placed first and Thomas fourth in parliamentary debate speaker points. In parliamentary debate placings, Rolen and Thomas finished third. The pair finished the debate competition by placing second in debate sweepstakes. Students capturing first, second and third places in the state meet qualify for the nationals. In duo interpretation, Josh Maxwell and Thomas took fourth place, while Maxwell placed sixth in dramatic interpretation. Also competing at the event were Danyelle Lambert, Clay Rosprim and David Jackson.
