The Paris Junior College Dragons golf team competed in the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Texoma Championship Sept. 30-Oct. 1 and finished with an individual and team second place.
"We had a good showing at the tournament this week and finished in second place," said PJC Golf Coach David Johnson. "It was a demanding course off the tees. The greens were really quick and you had to make good decisions on your second shots and be below the holes at all cost. We are a young team and these fall tournaments are great working experiences for the freshmen."
Sophomore Zac Oliver came in second individually and made the All-Tournament Team, and the PJC golf team shot 922 to finish second overall. The 54-hole event was held at Chickasaw Pointe in Kingston, Okla.
"Zac played really well and I am proud of the efforts he has made to become a better all around golf game manager," said Coach Johnson. "All the guys are working hard and I am proud of their efforts."
Oliver shot 73-76-72 221; Oliver Stephens shot 74-75-85 234, Jeremy Salas shot 80-82-74 235, Collin Thompson 76-WD-79 155 (WD-withdrew from round), Logan Dent shot 79-78-84 241. In team competition, Southeastern Oklahoma State University finished first at 904, PJC second with 922, Southern Arkansas University in third with 931, Rogers State University fourth with 933, Missouri Southern State University with 934 at fifth, Southern Nazarene University in sixth at 936, East Central University (Oklahoma) with 955 at seventh, and University of Arkansas at Monticello at eighth with 956.
