Paris Junior College's Green Team won Monday's Paris Fall Invitational with a two-round score of 557 (280, 277) at the Paris Golf & Country Club. The team included sophomores Grayson Benavides of Fort Worth and Jordan Brown of Mansfield, and freshmen Blake Elliott of Liberty Hill, Preston Woodard of Mansfield and Holden Hernandez of Burnett.
“I thought we played well as a team Monday,” said PJC Golf Coach David Johnson. “That’s what it is going to take for us all to be successful this year. We threw a bunch of freshman out there in their first college tournament and they responded well. We kept our emotions in check all day and that is good to see from any golfer. We still have room for improvement in all phases of play. Blake played really well at minus seven for both rounds and won the tournament. Jordan shot under par both rounds and was really consistent. I am really proud of the way they played but I am even more proud of the way they are coming together as a team. They are a quality bunch of young men.”
Elliott was named Tournament Medalist, achieving a score of 133 (68, 65). Joining him on the All Tournament team were Brown, Hernandez, and freshman Matt Ramsey of Stonewall, La.
Also making the All Tournament Team were Tyler Junior College golfers Trip Hobson at 68-71 (139), Oliver White at 72-67 (139) and Clayton Keck at 73-68 (141).
