The Paris Junior College Board of Regents Monday night authorized the administration to move forward with plans to purchase land for a new campus in Greenville. In accordance with the college's five-year strategic plan, a new campus is being proposed in Greenville that will replace the existing campus located on Jack Finney Blvd. The college has occupied that facility since 1998. "We have more than 1,000 students enrolled at the Greenville Center campus now and are in need of more classroom space," said PJC President Dr. Pamela Anglin. "We will move forward as quickly as possible to obtain land and begin construction of a new facility." Regents approved a contract with SHW Group of Dallas to provide architectural services for PJC that includes developing plans and designing new facilities for the campus in Paris and at the Greenville and Sulphur Springs campuses. The board also approved a resolution for the PJC District to reserve the right to reimburse capital expenditures for expansion projects at the Greenville and Sulphur Springs campuses when obtaining financing for the construction projects at those locations. Andy Reich of McClanahan and Holmes presented the college's audit report for 2004-2005 and told the board that he commends the college, Dean John Eastman and Comptroller Linda Kapp for their efforts in maintaining good financial records. "Paris Junior College has again received a clean opinion on all of its financial statements in this audit," Reich told the regents. In other business, the board: » Elected Rachel Braswell secretary of the board to replace Ginna Walker, who recently resigned from the Board of Regents after moving from her district. » Approved the financial report and okayed the fees for three new continuing education courses. » Approved the curriculum proposal for Associate of Science and an Associate of Applied Science degree programs in Criminal Justice and approved a proposed agricultural curriculum program for a Technical Agricultural Operations Certificate. » Approved employment of Susan Brooks as business and industry liaison for the college effective Nov. 28. » Approved the re-assignment of Marla Elliott from First Generation Grant coordinator to career counselor and advisor for Greenville and Sulphur Springs centers.
