Guest artist exhibit at PJC through December

Guest artist Nathan Porterfield’s exhibit includes the works, from top, “Unsophismable Kiss,” “An Unaccountable Freak,” and “Quiet Riot.”
The Paris Junior College Foyer Gallery is hosting an opening reception for the exhibit, “A Casual Relationship with the Truth,” from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Nov. 2.
Featuring the works of Clarksville native Nathan Porterfield, the show represents progress the PJC graduate has made since leaving the college. He received his bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in printmaking from the University of Texas at Tyler and his master of fine arts in printmaking from Texas Christian University.
“We are extremely excited to host PJC alumnus Nathan Porterfield’s exhibition,” said PJC Art Instructor Lena Spencer. “Nathan uses unexpected materials in his captivating mixed media works, creating a powerful body of work infused with possibility. Sometimes the greatest magic can be realized by combining the most elemental ingredients.”
Porterfield’s recent exhibitions include "Elysian Aftertaste," a solo exhibition at Ro2 Art in Dallas, "Thus We Scatter as We Go Along," a solo exhibition at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, and "Vertebrate Vanguard," a solo exhibition at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas. Residing in Las Colinas, Texas, he is an adjunct professor of art at Tarleton State University.
The exhibition will run from Nov. 2 to Dec. 7 during regular building hours: Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
