Ross Hodge named assistant basketball coach

Ross Hodge, a former student and player, is returning to Paris Junior College to become assistant men's basketball coach and dormitory supervisor. Hodge comes to PJC from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where he completed his college basketball career and has been assistant coach for the last two seasons. "I am excited about returning to PJC and to Paris," Hodge said. "I look forward to working with Coach (Bill) Foy, seeing old friends and being a part of the Dragon basketball program again." The Seagoville native has excelled at all levels as a player and during his short coaching career. In high school, he was Sophomore of the Year and was named to the all-district and all-region teams. At PJC where he played under Foy, Hodge's two seasons at guard saw the Dragons win 20 games each season and advance to the state tournament. While playing for A&M-Commerce, Hodge was named All-Conference guard, was second in the nation in assists in NCAA Division II, and broke the university's season record for assists. During his senior season, the Lions made it to the Lone Star Conference tournament. Hodge's two-year record as an assistant under Coach Sam Walker saw the Lions post a 41-19 record. They won the Lone Star Conference title, the post-season tournament, and advanced to the Region II Sweet 16. Hodge received his bachelor's degree from A&M-Commerce and will complete his Master's Degree in Health and Kinesiology in August. "I'm pleased that Ross is coming back to be a part of our basketball program," Foy said. "He was a good student and a good player while he was here at PJC. Ross has already demonstrated some success as a coach, and I look forward to having his assistance."
