Paris Junior College Dragons Marcus Holt, left, and Mike Harmon, right, sign to continue their playing careers with Colorado State University and Abilene Christian University, respectively, as Head Basketball Coach Chuck Taylor looks on.
Paris Junior College Dragons basketball players Mike Harmon and Marcus Holt signed on Wednesday to continue their playing careers at four-year schools.
Harmon, a sophomore who played for Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, has signed with Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.
"ACU is pretty nice," Harmon said. "This is a big weight off my back to make this decision. I love it at PJC. It's tough, but Coach Taylor has me getting better day by day."
Holt, a sophomore who played for Rangeview High School in Aurora, Colo., has signed with Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
"I'm very excited to sign a Division I letter," said Holt. "I can focus on the season and my grades now that it's official. PJC has been an unforgettable experience and playing here will help me have a smooth transition. I've really liked it."
"Mike is a phenomenal young man," Taylor said of Harmon. "Any time you reach your goal to sign a Division I scholarship, it's a great accomplishment. He's a really good player. ACU is getting a guy who can really help them. He's good at three-pointers. I'm looking forward to this season and like what he brings to the team."
Coach Taylor said he is really proud of Holt. "I've seen him evolve from a shy kid not knowing if he'd stay to becoming a mature young man. He's a solid post, really athletic in blocking shots and finishing around the rim.
"Both are on track to graduate and that's the best part." Taylor said. "I look forward to three to four more signings in the spring. We've had ten guys in three years sign with Division I schools, and that's a great accomplishment for the team, for PJC and for our young men."
