Students attend heating, air conditioning expo in Dallas

Members of the Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology Students (HARTS) Association at PJC pose during their day at the 65th International Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigerating Exposition in Dallas.
An opportunity to learn of new technologies and their applications in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry was recently afforded to 47 Paris Junior College students.
Dallas was the scene of the 65th International Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigerating Exposition. The show is where industry learns how new technologies and their applications have improved design, construction and operations of buildings and systems. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE) and the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) cosponsor the Expo.
As cosponsors, both ASHRAE and AHRI are integral parts of the 2013 AHR Expo as well as the industry. The show involved over 1,900 manufacturers from around the world, and allows companies to introduce new products that have never been seen before.
"This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see the latest technology and meet representatives from so many manufacturers from the industry they've chosen to train for," said PJC Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology instructor Jenna Ormsbee.
The PJC students are members of the Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology Students (HARTS) Association, which raises funds to travel to industry-specific events such as the Expo. Paris Junior College and its HVAC Department strive to keep students as current as possible in industry equipment and standards. The Expo allowed students to see firsthand all aspects of the air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration industry as well as allowed them to network and explore future workforce possibilities.
