Lamar County Retired Teachers awards scholarships

Prairiland High School seniors Kaylee Paige Freeman and John Mark Francis received scholarships to attend Paris Junior College from the Lamar County Retired Teachers Association during luncheon ceremonies Monday. Karen Beard, scholarship chairman, made the presentations. Freeman is the daughter of Buddy and Traci Freeman. Both parents are educators. Paige intends to become a technology instructor. She has been very involved in her church, FFA, UIL, the yearbook staff, band, golf, Crime Stoppers, Beta Club and National Honor Society. She credits her interest in education to her parents. Francis is the son of Mark and Karen Francis. He credits several former teachers with his interest in becoming a teacher. John Mark is involved with Beta Club, Crime Stoppers, the yearbook staff, the student council, golf, FFA, Youth for Christ, UIL, band and National Honor Society.
