Ryan Shugart, a student in the Paris Junior College Electro-Mechanical program, has received a scholarship from Lamar Power Partners/NextEra Energy.
The funds will help the Paris sophomore with up to $1,250 per semester of his tuition, books and fees for this fall semester and the spring 2012 semester.
Lamar Power Partners/NextEra Energy plant manager Jimmie Hopson presented the award to Shugart, who graduated from Prairiland High School.
Currently, Lamar Power Partners employs 12 PJC graduates or former students from PJC's Electro-Mechanical program at the plant. This is the third year the energy company has provided assistance for students in the program.
