Shown from the left are club member Berlinda Price; student Angela Hardison; Derald Bulls, director of PJC Institutional Advancement/Alumni Affairs; student Jameka Blake; and club member Jerlean Franklin.
On Friday, members of Les Belles Parisiennes donated $1,500 in scholarships to young African American women attending Paris Junior College.
Receiving $500 scholarships for the spring 2013 semester are Jameka Blake and Angela Hardison of Paris. Blake is majoring in nursing and Hardison in sociology.
Established in 1959, the organization made the donation to the College in memory of past club member Renee Hall, a former teacher at Aikin Elementary School, who passed away in August 2012.
Thanks to Les Belles Parisiennes, additional funds will be available to assist with the summer semesters.
After the presentation, Price encouraged Hardison and Blake to remember to help others when they had succeeded in reaching their goals.
