The Health Occupations Department at Paris Junior College held pinning ceremonies Thursday at Calvary United Methodist church for students completing the vocational nursing program. Marcia Putnam, director, welcomed family and friends and introduced Dr. Pamela Anglin, Paris Junior College President, David McAnally, dean of Applied Technologies, and the vocational nursing program faculty. Dr. Tuesday Chadwick, in her keynote address, challenged the students to "bond with their patients, their peers and their superiors; to always do what is right in patient care; and never be afraid to ask questions." "All these things result in better patient care," she said. Chadwick, a Paris OB/GYN physician, received her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston and interned at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Tulsa. Special awards were presented by the LVN instructors. Judith Smith presented the Hopkins Nicholas Award to Darla Edington of Paris. Debbie Bookout presented the Metamorphosis Award to Lee Woodard of Paris. Angie Allen of Powderly and Angela Clark of Paris were recognized for the highest average by Sandra Edwards. Melba Ingram presented perfect attendance awards to Paul Britt, Katrina Tennison, and Lee Woodard of Paris, and Breanna Strawn of Sulphur Springs.
