Masonite Plant General Manager Jon Hultquist told employees this was the largest grant award the company had received to date. To cheers and applause, he explained the training employees would receive and informed them if they were interested in another position, they'd need to get their name on the training list.
Also present for the presentation was Masonite Senior Director of Operations – Residential Division Mike Jackson from Tampa, Florida, and PJC Director of Continuing Education Rita Pringle.
"After the training, several employees asked to be included on the training list," said Pringle. "The plant is definitely excited about the grant and PJC is pleased to meet this industry's training needs."
Masonite will train 120 incumbent workers in courses like basic industrial electricity, maintenance welding, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, quality control, computers, basic interior finishing, logistics, programmable logic controllers and more.
