Published or Revised April 07, 2011

Music is blooming with the bluebonnets this month at Paris Junior College, kicking off with a concert April 12 and a music and drama showcase April 28-29. The Paris Junior College Chorale and Chamber Singers will present their Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shaw Recital Hall on the PJC campus. "Our student choirs will be performing songs by American and English Choral Composers including Randall Thompson, Edward Elgar, John Rutter, Houston Bright, Aaron Copeland, and Gerald Finzi," said PJC Director of Choirs Philip Briggs. PJC music and drama students will come together to present a Showcase of Scenes and Music from the Theatre on Thursday and Friday evening, April 28-29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray Karrer Theatre. "The showcase includes a collection of scenes and music from the American stage," said PJC drama instructor William Walker. "These scenes are for adults. It's a little edgier than our normal productions." Admission is free and open to the public for all events. The theatre is located in the north end of the Administration Building and the Music Building is located adjacent to Administration; both are on the northwest corner of the Paris campus.
