RN nominees sought for Nurse of the Year Award

America's 3.1 million registered nurses work to save lives and improve the health of millions of individuals each year. National Nurses Week focuses attention on their care and this year's American Nurses Association (ANA) theme is "Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care." RN Recognition Day ushers in National Nurses Week on May 6 which ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. To help mark the week, nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Lamar County Registered Nurse of the Year award. This award honors the rank-and-file nurses who do their best each day to meet the health care needs of our community. A nominee must be a registered nurse working in Lamar County who is not in a management position. The Paris Junior College School of Nursing will hold a Nurses' Week celebration luncheon at the PJC Ballroom, Wednesday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The highlight will be presentation of the Nurse of the Year award by PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin. A program on new initiatives to create a healthier community will follow the award presentation. Nomination forms may be picked up at the PJC Health Occupations Division, Bobby R.
