“Peter and the Starcatcher” opens Thursday at PJC

A story about the origins of Peter Pan opens Thursday on the Duane Allen Stage in the Ray E. Karrer Theater, with performances of “Peter and the Starcatcher” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 8-11, 2018.
The play opens with a young orphan and his friends shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that a mysterious trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates - led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own - the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.
“This is the origin story that’s never been seen before,” said PJC drama instructor and director William Walker. “We see how Boy becomes Peter and then Pan. We also see how the ultimate in nemeses was created. Come and meet all the people who came before the Pan.”
The play by Rick Elice is based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson; music is by Wayne Barker. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Tickets may be reserved through pjcdrama@parisjc.edu. General Admission is $15, seniors and children $10, or free with a current PJC ID.
