Pharmacy Tech course to be offered in February

Paris Junior College — Sulphur Springs Center will offer a Pharmacy Technician course beginning in February. The Pharmacy Technician course will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Monday, Feb. 14 through June 6. This comprehensive course prepares students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
