Published or Revised May 17, 2010

Paris Junior College's Health Occupations Department held pinning ceremonies and handed out awards to vocational nursing graduates at ceremonies held Thursday at First Baptist Church in Paris. Health Occupations Director Marcia Putnam welcomed the crowd and introduced administration and faculty members. The Hopkins-Nicholas Award for outstanding performance in both classroom and clinical training went to Megan Glascock of Commerce. She also had the highest grade point average. In addition, Glascock received one of two TNSA (Texas Nursing Students Association) appreciation awards for outstanding participation. The other recipient of this award is Lisa Taylor of Paris. Lisa Jenkins of Wolfe City was given the Metamorphosis Award for exhibiting the most growth through the entire LVN program. Jolanda Starr of Dike, Shawn Johnson and Selina Lewis, both of Paris, Angelia Lewis of Bogata, Jonnie Wombaker of Greenville, and Marcella Reyes of Sulphur Springs were recognized for Clinical Excellence. Each instructor chose one student from their classes to receive this award. Stacey Jacobs of Point, Kim Richey of Pattonville, Angelia Lewis and Jolanda Starr all had perfect attendance. This signifies that throughout the entire program these students had no absences or tardiness for class, clinicals or any scheduled nursing appointments.
