PJC art students tour Fort Worth museums
Published or Revised January 12, 2017
Shown in front of a work by Anselm Kiefer in the lobby of The Modern are PJC students (from left, front): Josetin Westling, Courtney Langford, Shadow Trammel, Jeffery Ellis, and Jake Turner; (middle row) Crystal Finney, Jeremy Poarch, Priscilla Johnson, Kaylee Posey, and Jaymee Coburn; and (back row) Tim Shelton, David Linn, Sharon Lynch, Lena Spencer, and PJC art instructor Susan Moore. Present at the tour but not pictured were Metz Branch, Genevieve Lester, Jessica Holland, and Skylar Hines.
A bake sale held earlier in the semester paid off with sweet rewards as Paris Junior College art students toured three museums in Fort Worth: The Modern, The Amon Carter and The Kimbell.
"The students were collectively in awe of the scope of work offered by each of the museums," said PJC art instructor Susan Moore, "the size and cultures represented, and the reality of skill and imagination embodied in every work we saw."
In addition to regular collections at the museums, the PJC students also got to view the "Frank Stella Retrospective" at The Modern, Titian's "Entombment of Christ" at The Kimball, and Louise Bourgeois' series of lithographs and a very special retrospective covering the entire artistic life of Thomas Hart Benton at The Amon Carter.
