PJC baseball players sign NCAA letters of intent

Five Paris Junior College Dragons baseball players have signed NCAA letters of intent to continue their careers at four-year universities in the fall of 2007. They include, from the left: (back) left-hander Jordan Kratz of McKinney, Texas A&M University; first-baseman Michael Hallam of Forney, Central Missouri State University; (front) left-hander Zach Oliver of Waco, the University of Arkansas; outfielder Matt Apfel of Flower Mount, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; and third-baseman Tim Heath of Flower Mound, Texas State University.
Five Paris Junior College Dragons baseball players have signed NCAA letters of intent to continue their careers at four-year universities in the fall semester of 2007.
The latest Dragons to sign letters of intent include outfielder Matt Apfel of Flower Mound, Texas; fist-baseman Michael Hallam of Forney, Texas; right-handed pitcher and third-baseman Tim Heath of Flower Mound; left-handed pitcher Jordan Kratz of McKinney, Texas; and left-handed pitcher Zach Oliver of Waco, Texas.
Apfel, who batted .318 for the 2006 season, has signed with the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Apfel posted four home runs and 36 RBIs in 2006.
Hallam will take his .445 2006 batting average to
Central Missouri State University next year. He had eight home runs and 51 RBIs in 2006. Hallam was named to the 2006 All-Conference, 2006 NJCAA All-Region and 2006 TNMJCBCA All-Star teams.
Heath signed with
Texas State University. He batted .294 with 17 RBIs last season.
Kratz will pitch for
Texas A&M University in fall 2007. Kratz had an ERA of 4.15 for the Dragons in 2006, winning five and losing two. He was named to the TNMJCBCA All-Star team.
Oliver has signed to pitch for the
University of Arkansas next fall. Oliver was 7-2 for the Dragons in 2006 with a 2.44 ERA. He was named to the 2006 All-Conference and 2006 TNMJCBCA All-Star teams.
