PJC Drama presents “Noises Off!”
Published or Revised March 07, 2018
Paris Junior College presents the comedy, “Noises Off!” starting March 1, 2018 in the Ray E. Karrer Theater. In this scene (top), the search is on for a lost contact lens by, from left, Deja Sikes as Poppy Norton-Taylor, Vanessa Cooley as Brooke Ashton, Gisselle Benitez as Belinda Blair, Antavius Draughn as Frederick Fellows, Raden Phillips as Garry Lejeune, and Dotty Otley as Lisa Martin - a search at least until Brooke discovers the lens is still in her eye. Thursday through Sunday, March 1-4, 2018, the Paris Junior College Drama Department is presenting what has been called the funniest farce ever written. “Noises Off!” by Michael Frayne presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.” Doors slamming, on- and offstage intrigue, and an errant sardine all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
Directed by PJC Drama Instructor Will Walker, the play will open Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m., with repeat performances Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Ray E. Karrer Theater. Audience members who arrive half an hour early will be treated to free backstage tours for a better understanding of behind the scene action.
“‘Noises Off!’ is a play within a play and as it progresses,” said Walker, “the audience gets a glimpse of what really happens behind the scenes in the lives of actors. The theme is that life, in fact, is a farce.”
The show will run for two and a half hours with two fifteen intermissions. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students, and free for those with current PJC ID. The play is appropriate for older teens as it contains mild adult themes. For more information, email pjcdrama@parisjc.edu.
