PJC golf team second, Oliver first, at tournament

The Paris Junior College golf team took second place at the Hal Sutton/ Centenary College Tournament held at Stone Bridge Country Club in Shreveport on March 24-25. The Dragons shot rounds of 309-306 for a 615 total. Zac Oliver continued his outstanding play for the year by winning the individual crown with rounds of 73-69 for a two under par total of 142. Oliver has now placed in the top five at seven of the Dragons’ eight tournaments in the 2013-14 season. He also has a top ten finish as well. Jeremy Salas also had a very solid tournament with two rounds of 76 for a 152 total and a tie for sixth place. Tyler Dunbar fired rounds of 74-77 as a medalist and finished in fifth place individually. Other PJC scores were: Logan Dent 80-80, Collin Thompson 80-82, and Oliver Stephens 82-81. The Dragons will travel to the Southwest Championship at Tanglewood resort in Pottsboro, Texas, in two weeks. The next two tournaments (108 holes) are the team playoffs. The combination of scores from these two tournaments will determine the Southwest Regional Champion, The District II NJCAA Champion, the Region XIV Champion and the five teams that will represent District II at the National Golf Championships in May.
