PJC golfers place eighth in first spring tournament

Published or Revised February 20, 2013

The Paris Junior College Dragons golf team managed an eighth-place finish under difficult conditions at The Wrangler Invitational Golf Tournament this week.

The tournament was played Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 18-19, at the Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo, Texas, and was hosted by Odessa College.

"It was the first tournament of the spring for us," said PJC Golf Coach David Johnson. "We have a lot of room to improve. Shooting 80 on the first day was a good score with the tough conditions.

"Golf throws you a lot of different challenges. Learning from difficult experiences is critical. I know the guys, and they will work hard on improving our teams performance."

The Dragons will be in action again this weekend, Feb. 23-25, in a tournament in Pottsboro, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M University — Commerce.
