PJC sets Homecoming 2017 events, King & Queen court

Homecoming activities begin with a parade and pep rally on Thursday and conclude with the crowning at halftime of the 6 p.m. men’s basketball game in the Hunt Center on Saturday.
Paris Junior College has three days of activities planned for the 2017 Homecoming, November 2-4. The weekend will be highlighted by the awarding of the College’s highest honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award, and three alumni and one former coach will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for their outstanding achievements during the weekend’s events.
Name to be awarded the College’s highest honor, Distinguished Alumni Award is Ronald F. Dodson, PhD, Class of 1962, from Tyler, Texas. Also announced recently were the selections for the PJC Athletic Hall of Fame. They include baseball player Archie Reynolds, Class of 1966, and Robert "Bob" White, a golfer from the Class of 1955, and two posthumous honorees, baseball and football player Gerald T. Jack, Class of 1958, and former PJC head baseball coach, Larry Click, who coached at the College from 1977-1997.
Special guests will participate in the Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony. Chad MacDonald, class of 1991, Dragon baseball player and assistant coach and currently Assistant to the Atlanta Braves president, will introduce Larry Click. Ruth Ann Stallings, class of 1955 and PJC's 2012 Distinguished Alumna, will introduce her cousin Gerald Jack. Ernie McAnally, class of 1966 and AHOF member, will introduce his 1966 teammate Archie Reynolds. Bobby Walters, class of 1956, 2003 Distinguished Alumnus and PJC President Emeritus will introduce his friend Robert "Bob" White.
Festivities kick off on Thursday, November 2, with the Homecoming Parade which leaves the PJC campus at 4:00 p.m. and proceeds up Clarksville Street to 12th S.E., then north to Lamar Avenue where the floats and decorated vehicles circle the Plaza and return back down Clarksville Street to the Campus. Once concluded, students, faculty, family and friends will celebrate in the Hunt Center with a pep rally slated for 5:00 p.m.
Friday, November 3, PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin will host alumni, guests and friends of the College at the annual President’s Reception in the McLemore Student Center Ballroom from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
The weekend is highlighted with the Distinguished Alumni Award Luncheon, Saturday, November 4 at Love Civic Center which will begin at 11:30 a.m. Cost for the luncheon is $20 and will be catered by Savory Sisters.
The Athletic Hall of Fame ceremonies take place Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the McLemore Student Center Ballroom and the public is invited to attend. Refreshments will follow.
That afternoon starting at 4 p.m, the PJC women’s and men’s basketball teams host Bacone College Junior Varsity and Jarvis Christian College Junior Varsity. At halftime of the men’s game, the 2017 PJC Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.
The PJC Homecoming nominees for Queen include Lindsey Cook of Paris, Ryleigh Davidson of Blossom, and Chelsey Walker of Shreveport, La., and for King include Connor Anderson of Sachse, Dreikus Green of Roxton, and Aaron Stanley of Sulphur Springs.
