PJC partnership used to inspire innovation nationwide

This summer’s Paris Junior College partnership with Country Music Television’s Empowering Education program was featured at a workshop held during the recent American Association of Community College’s Workforce Development Institute (WDI).
The WDI is a pre-eminent opportunity for in-depth exchanges and networking for economic and workforce leaders at community colleges and their partners. This year’s theme was “Inspiring Innovation.” The theme is meant to demonstrate how innovation abounds on campuses and in communities across the country: in program design, development, and delivery, in services to students and employers, and in creative solutions to workforce and economic development challenges.
PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin presented at the workshop, “Innovative Student Engagement.” Her fellow presenters were Chuck Brodsky, Executive Vice President, Business Development, Full Measure Education; Lucia Folk, Vice President, Public Affairs, Country Music Television; and Mark Schneider, Vice President and Institute Fellow, American Institutes for Research.
They discussed unique examples of innovative engagement models that have been used at community colleges throughout 2016, including the free CMTEE/PJC concert headlined by Morgan Myles and featuring Hannah Kirby held in July. The concert was preceded by a Resource Fair showcasing PJC’s many workforce technology programs, as well as admissions and financial aid resources.
“Participating in the Workforce Development Institute provided an opportunity to learn about successful workforce development programs at community colleges across the nation and to interact with corporate leaders who partner with community colleges,” said Dr. Anglin.
