PJC remains in top 50 fastest growing colleges

Published or Revised January 02, 2012

Paris Junior College remains in the top 50 fastest growing colleges in the nation, even as enrollment growth slows across the nation. Community College Week recently released its annual listing of the fastest growing public two-year colleges in the nation for 2011. The listing is based on Fall Enrollment Survey data collected from more than 7,000 schools by the U.S. Department of Education. In the 5,000-9,999 size category, PJC is ranked 25th, with an 11 percent growth rate from fall 2009-2010. The analysis covers the percent change between fall 2009 and fall 2010 enrollments, broken down into four categories based on size. Nationally, enrollment has fallen from an average of 8 percent growth to 3 percent, largely due to the economy recovering slightly and funding cuts to higher education. While Texas community college enrollment grew 6 percent this year, the growth was mostly in large urban area schools.
