Courtney Meier, sophomore from Bryan, has signed with the University of Texas in Tyler.
"I learned how to be a student athlete and get things done while I was at PJC," Meier said. "I loved UT-Tyler, the coaches and their knowledge of the game, the campus, the atmosphere - it just felt right."
"Courtney has made a tremendous impact for our ball club the moment she stepped on the field," said PJC softball coach Angel Castro. "The past two years she has been able to take care of business both on the field and in the classroom. She will be a great addition to the UT-Tyler program and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this young star. TalonsUP!"
Sierra Valdez of Houston, Texas has signed with Texas Southern University.
"It was a great campus," said Valdez about visiting TSU. "The coaching staff is really great; I've known the coach for a couple of years so talking to him was a good opportunity. At PJC I learned how to deal with having softball and classes at the same time and am taking everything you learn from junior college to the next level."
"I am excited to see how Sierra progresses these next two years at Texas Southern University," said Castro. "She was a pivotal part of our success these past two seasons and will be missed. She is a versatile athlete with much to offer! Go Tigers!”
