Students from the Paris Junior College Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology helped girl scouts earn their junior jeweler badge last week. Travelling to Commerce for the meeting were TIJT student association president Kerby Dewbre, secretary Jonathan David Wiley, and webmasters Angel Guevara and Hannah Pinon.
Over a two-hour timeframe, the four taught the girls how to make wire-wrapping rings using antique buttons and metal wire.
“They had to make one for themselves and one for another person,” said Guevara. “We felt really good, really positive about volunteering. The kids loved it and it was really neat working with them. It was a really nice environment all around.”
