PJC students seek community input to survey, attend conference

PJC’s Beta Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college honor society, attended the Texas PTK Leadership conference in College Station Oct. 9-11. Paris Junior College's Beta Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college honor society, is seeking community input with an online survey for their Honors in Action project.
Honors in Action is a community research project that helps PTK members build professional and personal skills.
"The topic our chapter chose for this project is Celestial Frontiers," said PTK President Joel Mutchler. "We have an online survey to help our chapter gather data from the community about colonizing Mars. We would appreciate your support."

Members of PTK also attended the Texas PTK Leadership Conference at Texas A&M University - College Station, Oct. 9-11. The topic was "Barriers to Leadership."
"We listened to speakers talk about leadership on issues such as perspective and how to make better decisions," said PTK member Lesli Johnson. "We also took a trip to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Most importantly, we learned how to lead by example and inspire others."
A secondary theme of the conference was "The Hunger Games," and students participated in leadership games and then enjoyed a themed dance with costumes. Students attended workshops and regional meetings, and heard from people speakers such as PTK International Vice President Elizabeth Taylor and Dr. Lee Ann Nutt, president of Lone Star College - Tomball.
