PJC students tour MD-Anderson in Houston

Eight PJC biomedical sciences students recently toured the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Students in Paris Junior College's biomedical and laboratory sciences program were able to tour the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center near the end of the fall semester. The eight students, accompanied by PJC Science Division Chair Dr. Jack Brown included
The students were able to participate in a large group presentation about the university and all that is offered there, then they broke out into specific meetings on individual programs. Each student was able to tour the lab related to the program they were interested in. They were among several hundred touring students interested in transferring into the MD Anderson programs. According to Brown, PJC is still the only college the guarantees entree for PJC students successfully completing the program.
“These are small, prestigious and highly-sought-after programs,” said Brown, “and they only take 15 to 30 students, depending on the program. It speaks to the quality of training available from PJC.”
The college will reopen from winter break on Jan. 2 to being registration for the spring semester that starts on Jan. 17. For more information on the program, email jbrown@parisjc.edu.
