Avoid workplace electrical hazards with training at PJC

Helping workers avoid workplace electrical hazards is the goal of an April 10-11, 2019 course offered by the Paris Junior College Continuing Education Department. The class targets those who perform electrical maintenance in commercial and industrial facilities, and their leaders, to help them improve safety. The class introduces electrical hazards in the workplace, describes how to avoid them, and how to analyze and document shock and arc flash hazards. Students will learn how to plan and conduct work around those hazards. The course includes examples of how to complete an energized electrical work permit and how to select the specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) required for electrical work. The course provides familiarity with NFPA 70E. This training was designed and updated to meet the 2018 edition of NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and the 2017 NEC. Those needing to attend are personnel performing electrical maintenance in commercial and industrial facilities and their leadership. Trainees with successful module completions may be eligible for credentialing through the NCCER Registry. They may also qualify for 12 NETA CTDs and 1.0 CEU.
