A highly competitive season ended with honors for several Paris Junior College volleyball players following the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIV tournament, held this past weekend in Tyler.
Jordan Strickland was Region XIV Setter of the Year. First Team All Conference honors went to T’Asia Black, Abby Phillips and Strickland. Receiving All Conference Honorable Mention were Haley Hostetler, Denise Gonzalez and Andrea Hurt.
“We had a very successful season overall,” said PJC volleyball coach Justin Maness. “We finished the tournament just one game shy of where we were last year. I felt competition in the region was much stronger. We had several team firsts this year, our highest finish in the conference, best overall record and the highest national ranking at tenth.”
“Before now, we only had one player make first team all conference and to have three, plus setter of the year and three honorable mentions, was great. Our team represented PJC well in the conference.
PJC was second in conference with a 5-3 record. The non-conference/non-regional record was 22-2. The team ended fourth at the Region XIV tournament 2-2, and 29-8 for the overall season.
