Two Lady Dragons on the Paris Junior College women's basketball team recently received recognition from the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIV.
Sophomore Chy Cunningham made the All-Region and All-Tournament Teams, and honorable mention went to freshman Damya Toney.
"It is always a tremendous accomplishment when the team receives recognition," said PJC women's basketball coach Michael Madrid. "Damya and Chy have been recognized by the coaches in our conference for their body of work throughout the season."
"We had a good season," said Toney. "We played hard and played well together as a team. Coach Madrid is a really good coach and it was a good first year."
Cunningham has signed in the fall to continue playing next year at the University of Arizona.
"We did better than a lot of people thought we would do," said Cunningham, "because we were preseason picked ninth in the conference and we came out fourth at the end of the year. It was Coach Madrid's first year and I think he did a really good job as a head coach. Our team played well together. Next year they'll be even better."
