Ariannah Kemp, a sophomore guard for the Paris Junior College women’s basketball team, has signed to continue playing next year at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. Prior to attending PJC, she was District MVP as a senior at Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Texas.
“Last year Ariannah was out the entire year with an injury and no coaches knew about her. This year she was adjusting to a new system and she made herself into a player,” said PJC Women’s Basketball Coach Gonzalo Garza. “She got on coaches’ radar because of the way she played in conference and the regional tournament. She was very even keel for us throughout the whole year at a good level, playing hard but she really turned it on during conference. We’re really proud of her.”
“I really liked SOSU, it’s awesome,” said Kemp. “At PJC I learned how to be patient when I got hurt last year and I made really good friends here. They’re really good people and I enjoyed my two years here.”
Kemp recently received All Region Honorable Mention for NJCAA Region XIV.
