Paris Junior College’s Morgan Monzingo is shown in the game against Eastfield College, one of two where the number of goals she scored led to her being named a national NJCAA Player of the Week for women’s soccer. The freshman is from Cedar Hill, Texas.
For connecting on five of eight shots on goal the week of Sept. 9-15, Paris Junior College freshman Morgan Monzingo was named a National Junior College Athletic Association national Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.
“I’m extremely proud of her,” said PJC Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach Lance Noble. “Obviously it’s a team honor and we expect great things from all the girls this year. They’ve come together as a family much quicker than expected and their work ethic is unparalleled. Morgan is a relentless defender and I want everyone to know that she doesn’t just score goals.”
“Lauren Hatch [assistant women’s soccer coach] has done a fantastic job with our three starting forwards, Morgan, Brittney Perez and Lesli Marin. She’s worked with them before practice, during practice and after practice and I’d like to thank her for that.”
Monzingo, who is from Cedar Hill, was also ranked third nationally in points scored for the week and thirteenth in assists. Perez, from Amarillo, was ranked fourth in assists, sixth in points scored and eleventh in goals. Marin, from San Antonio, ranked twenty-third nationally in assists.
